Peace Fleece yarn has the most interesting history. The owners, who live in rural Maine, have connected with wool farmers in Russia, Palestine and Israel and mix their fibers with those from America. “Many of the people with whom Peace Fleece works overseas are in the midst of political, social or economic crisis and some are living in a war zone. Knitting is essential to the economic and emotional survival of these people. It’s Palestinian and Israeli friends face terrorism on a daily basis and their Russian partners are struggling to rebuild economies that suffered decades of abuse.” This wonderful yarn does NOT fail to deliver!! It is a wonderful blend of fine wool and Texas mohair in a 75:25 ratio. The yarn feels quite “woolly” but really softens up with washing. We have picked their worsted weight which yields 200 yds per 4 oz on 5 mm needles.
